Francisco Marí

Francisco Marí has been working since 2009 as a project officer for lobby and advocacy work in the areas of Global Nutrition, Agricultural Trade and Maritime Policy at Brot für die Welt (Bread for the World) in the Protestant Agency for Social Welfare and Development, focusing on food security, artisanal fisheries, WTO, EU-Africa trade and fisheries agreements, deep-sea mining and the effects of food standards on small-scale producers.

 

Francisco Marí has been working since 2009 as a project officer for lobby and advocacy work in the areas of Global Nutrition, Agricultural Trade and Maritime Policy at Brot für die Welt in the Protestant Agency for Social Welfare and Development, focusing on food security, artisanal fisheries, WTO, EU-Africa trade and fisheries agreements, deep-sea mining and the effects of food standards on small-scale producers.

 

After studying law and social psychology in Frankfurt/Main and Berlin, he worked in various advisory and training positions. From 1997-2001, Francisco Marí worked as a project manager for an advisory organisation for sustainable agriculture in Cameroon and was then responsible for several years of development policy research as a study director, for example on the social conditions for foreign seafarers in ports in South America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, on the effects of old clothing exports for the textile industry in Africa and an advocacy project on EU meat exports to West Africa with the campaign "don't send chicken" for the Protestant Development Service.

 

Francisco Marí represents  Brot für die Welt (Bread for the World) on the board of the EU Long Distance Action Committee (LDAC), on the board of the Fisheries Transparency Initiative (FiTi), on the advisory board of the Coalition for Fair Fisheries Agreements (CFFA), on the Stakeholder Forum of the German Alliance for Marine Research and on the International Council of the World Social Forum.
