German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP)

The German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) is an independent research institution that advises political decision-makers on foreign, security, international and European policy on the basis of its own practice-oriented research. In these fields, SWP is one of Europe’s largest think tanks. Its primary task is to advise the German Bundestag and the Federal Government; its work is also directed at political decision-makers in international organisations of particular importance to Germany, such as the EU, NATO and the United Nations.
