Jacob Lekaitogo

Jacob Lekaitogo is a Samburu youth from Kenya and currently serves as the Global Coordinator of the IYRP Youth Working Group. He is the Co-founder and President of the Pastoralist Youth and Alliance Africa (PYAA) and also works with the Government of Kenya. With over nine years of community service and advocacy experience promoting pastoralist livelihoods and land tenure security, Jacob focuses on amplifying youth voices in policy and practice – particularly on food systems, biodiversity, and land governance. He actively participates in regional and global platforms spotlighting pastoralism, Indigenous knowledge, and climate adaptation. Through his work, Jacob fosters innovative approaches that merge traditional pastoralist systems with modern solutions to strengthen resilience, improve livelihoods, and restore ecosystems. He also organises and leads youth gatherings across East Africa and globally, uniting young pastoralists to discuss generational renewal and the future of pastoralism.
