Dear Readers,

Biodiversity is perhaps our planet's most important good. Along with tackling climate change, preserving biodiversity is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity – as an estimated 60 percent of the world's ecosystems have deteriorated in the last 50 years.

NABU discusses the link of biodiversity, agriculture and nutrition – and presents solutions as well as challenges. WWF also presents nature conservation measures from Germany to Ecuador. In a cocoa project in Ghana, Fairtrade Germany adopts sustainable cultivation methods strengthening local biodiversity as a result. Brot für die Welt reports on the impact of everyone's ecological footprint and handprint on climate protection and thus biodiversity.

Food for Thought - zum Schutz von Natur und Arten

Die Biodiversität ist das vielleicht wichtigste Gut unseres Planeten. Zusammen mit der Bewältigung des Klimawandels ist der Erhalt der biologischen Vielfalt eine der größten Herausforderungen der Menschheit – denn in den letzten 50 Jahren haben sich schätzungsweise 60 Prozent der weltweiten Ökosysteme verschlechtert.

Der NABU diskutiert den Zusammenhang von Biodiversität, Landwirtschaft und Ernährung – und zeigt neben den Herausforderungen auch Lösungen auf.
